It was another record-breaking charity night at the Russell Roof Tiles Annual Big Quiz recently, with £18,626.00 raised for local causes, at the event organised by leading roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles.
50 teams made up of customers, friends, family, staff, and suppliers from across the UK, and even the USA joined the firm for an evening of very competitive quizzing as well as an auction, raffle, and bingo at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.
The quiz is part of a year of fundraising by Russell Roof Tiles for its Give4Good initiative which has an ambitious target to raise £50,000 for good causes. A total of 10 local charity organisations were selected for this year, five local to its Lochmaben facility and five local to Burton on Trent, plus two international ones. The total amount raised will be announced next month.
The winning quiz team was led by Assistant Works Manager at the firm’s Burton tile plant, Andy Iliff who together with his family were outstanding winners losing just three points across all seven rounds.
Andrew Hayward created and hosted the quiz with Area Sales Manager Ross Hayward and Commercial Services Director, Paul McLoughlin.
This is one of the last major fundraising events for the company in 2024, whose staff have done a huge number of varied events and activities in the name of charity, including baking, sports, a Race Across Europe challenge, tough mudder, comedy and race nights and car boot sale. This month the company also completed its Superstars Challenge, where 10 pairs of volunteers – completed 10 different sports across the year including football, pool, swimming, pentathlon, pickleball, bowls, tennis, golf, table tennis, and darts, raising another £2,000 for Give4Good.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “We are delighted to have again hosted such a successful event, coming together to enjoy a memorable evening as well as raising another record-breaking amount for our Burton and Lochmaben charities.
“This was our biggest and best Big Charity Quiz so far; we had just over 200 people attend and so we want to say a massive thank you, specifically to Burton Albion for their continued support. It was once an incredible success that raised a huge amount of money to help charities within our communities and help make a real difference to people’s lives.”
