One of Europe’s leading providers of geotechnical instrumentation has
been helping enhance skills in key sectors, including civil engineering and
infrastructure projects.
Welcoming its first official cohort in August 2022, the Geosense Academy has
opened its dedicated training facilities to engineers with the aim of boosting their
skills when using advanced measurement technology for civil and structural
engineering projects.
“Along with technology and innovation, training is the third factor which enables
modern sectors to grow. By increasing engineers’ knowledge of geotechnical
instruments and their applications, we can help provides a great foundation of
accurate data to support the projects they work on” Tim Clegg, Managing
Director of Geosense.
Having provided ad-hoc training to its clients for many years, the Geosense
Academy now formalises this training.
Geosense manufactures instrumentation used in the geotechnical, civil
engineering, mining and environmental industries and has a particular expertise
in vibrating wire and MEMS sensors. Geosense products are used in more than
80 countries.
“Though we are UK-based, our products are used internationally and the training
we provide to engineers enables them to better gather critical data which
facilitates exciting projects around the globe” adds Tim.
“We’ve provided product training for many years. By establishing the Geosense
Academy, we can not only support experienced engineers but new engineers
looking to build a solid foundation for a successful career. We can ensure they
are ready to get the very best from our products before arriving on site”
concludes Tim.
The Geosense Academy is based at the company’s headquarters and production
facilities near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It includes dedicated classrooms and a
wide array of measurement technology for hands-on training. The company can
also arrange on-site training to target specific project requirements and remote
sessions, as shown in the images.
The company is a proud member of several industry groups, including AGS
(Association of Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Specialists), DFI (Deep
Foundations Institute) and Make UK, and operates to some of the highest quality
standards, including ISO9001.
